Gallery Maintenance

The museum is undergoing a largescale maintenance project to ensure the preservation of the collection for future visitors. Due to this work, certain galleries and individual artwork may be off view during your visit.

  • Sunflowers by Vincent Willem van Gogh, normally displayed in our European Galleries will go off view on October 1, 2024 through February 2025.
  • The Annunciation by Henry Ossawa Tanner is currently not on view.
  • European Art Galleries and Period Rooms (Galleries 350, 355, 358, 364, 366 and 375) will be open, however, many of our objects will be off view or under art protection July 16 – September 5.
  • A portion of our European Art Galleries and Period Rooms (Galleries 352, 353, 354, 361, 362 and 363) will be closed September 6 – October 1.
  • European Art Galleries and Period Rooms (Galleries 392, 393, 394, 395, 396, 397, 398 and 399) will be closed September 16 – December 12.

With over 200 galleres, there is still plenty of art, architecture and design to explore!

We are working hard to keep our online collection database accurate. If the success of your visit relies on a specific artwork being on view - please contact VisitorServices@philamuseum.org to inquire about its status. We aim to respond to all inquiries within 72 hours, depending on the item in question.

Thank you for your patience.
